To MARS with MER - RESEARCH/ers

Shonte Wright
Thermal Systems Cognizant Engineer ("Cog-E") for
Mars Exploration Rovers mission
NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California

P2K: What is it that you like most about your job?

Shonte Wright: My job is so cool. I don't know how to name just one or two things that I like. I think what I like best about my job is the overall variety. I have an opportunity to test hardware... to work with hardware from the standpoint of installing it on the spacecraft. I also have a chance to look at different design options as well as validate those designs later on.

P2K: What do you like least about your job?

Shonte Wright: Long meetings! I hate long, boring meetings. If a meeting is not really being productive from the standpoint of active problem-solving, or concurrent engineering, I'm really not very interested. However I do recognize that meetings are at times a necessary evil.
