To MARS with MER - RESEARCH/ers

Deborah Bass
Deputy Science Team Chief
NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California

P2K: What do you like the most about your job?

Deborah Bass: The speed actually... the intelligence of the people and the stimulation. It's never boring around here. In fact sometimes it's not boring enough! But the fact is I never know what I'm going to get to do each day, but I know it is going to be exciting, and I'm going to get to talk to a lot of different people and work problems and use my brain all the time.

P2K: What is the least thing you like about your job?

Deborah Bass: Meetings... too many meetings! It seems that we spend an awful lot of time communicating, sitting in meetings and trying to work out different problems. Sometimes I think it would be nice if we could do a few more face-to-face things rather than doing things in a group.
