PASSPORT TO KNOWLEDGE - To MARS with MER

What kind of surfaces are wheels on Mars rovers designed for?
Chris

The rovers can operate on sandy terrain, dusty terrain as well as very, very rocky terrain. So that includes terrain that is very hard packed where the vehicle can actually operate almost like cement, but more like very, very hard packed dirt. But also very rocky terrain where there's hardly any place to put for example your foot between rocks. The vehicles can also travel on that as well.
