PASSPORT TO KNOWLEDGE - To MARS with MER

Informal Science Education Registration Form for NEW VIEWS

You may have heard about this unique programming opportunity during P2K's presentation at the 2003 ASTC conference, but we hope the recent news of proof of past liquid water on the Red Planet, and the continuing public fascination with Mars -- 9 billion hits to NASA sites since the rovers landed, and continuing large crowds for Mars-related events at science centers across the nation -- will make you even more interested in downlinking NEW VIEWS on Saturday May 1, from 3-4 p.m. Eastern, and perhaps hosting a public event. Questions from anyone, anywhere can be submitted via P2K's ON-AIR web resource during the program and for one hour thereafter, enabling interaction by your visitors with a panel of Mars experts. The program can also be recorded off-air, and used -- in whole or in part -- in your public exhibits, subject to returning the usage report which follows.

Satellite coordinates, and access to NEW VIEWS
TO ENSURE SCIENCE CENTERS CAN ACCESS THE FREE, LIVE SPECIAL, IT IS BEING FED ON AN OPEN ACCESS C-BAND TRANSPONDER RESERVED DIRECTLY BY P2K. Details follow.

NEW VIEWS may also appear on NASA-TV's usual transponder, and is being fed for public TV carriage on an analog Ku-transponder on SBS6. The program is also being offered to local public television stations. PLEASE CHECK LOCAL LISTINGS.

HOWEVER, we suggest the P2K C-band transponder is the most reliable source for this programming for informal science institutions.

An invitation to explore Mars!
You've likely seen the front-page stories about the first definitive proof that Mars once had liquid water -- a pre-condition for life as we know it -- and the record-setting travels of the SPIRIT and OPPORTUNITY rovers across the Red Planet. Now NEW VIEWS brings together some of the key scientists and engineers who made these successes possible, for fast-paced interaction with a live studio audience from across America, gathered at the St. Louis Science Center. E-mail questions can be submitted from 3-5 p.m. Eastern, and will be answered in real time by a panel of Mars experts. The latest images and explanations of the rovers' discoveries, plus a look ahead to future missions, round out the most current and definitive "State of the Red Planet" report available for science centers, planetariums and informal science educators. NEW VIEWS will be hosted by Bill Nye the Science Guy, himself a scientific collaborator on the rover mission.

NEW VIEWS is free for you to use live, or tape and re-use in segments (on kiosks, etc.) >>>upon return of the Usage Report.<<< Educators have "life of tape" off-air educational rights.

Thanks for your interest in NEW VIEWS, which is part of the ongoing TO MARS WITH MER project, supported by both NSF and NASA.
