B r u c e J u r c e v i c h Associate Program Manager for the Solar X-Ray Imager (SXI) program Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Center, Palo Alto, California
Who I Am
For the past year-and-a-half, I have been the Associate program manager for the
Solar X-ray Imager (SXI) in charge of the mechanical and optical systems. I am
technically responsible for the X-ray mirror, the mechanical structure, the contamination
control, thermal subsystems and instrument assembly.
My Journey
I grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where as a high school student I took
night classes at a vocational technical school learning mechanical drafting and
electronics. Went to college for mechanical engineering at the Penn State University and
after graduation I took my first job at the Kennedy Space Center working for Lockheed
launching space shuttles. As part of the space shuttle engineering team I participated in
9 shuttle launches with the Challenger accident being the final launch. After Challenger
I moved to California and began working for the Lockheed research and development
division in Palo Alto and have been here ever since.
