The KAO PI Seating

The Principle Investigators, or PI's, are the astronomers that use the KAO to test their theories or see what they can discover. Like almost all professional astronomers, the PI's on the KAO don't actually look through the telescope, but instead use specially adapted instruments mounted to the telescope at the Nasmyth Mounting Flange.

Though the PI team is usually headed by an astronomer with her/his Ph.D., many of the people on the team are graduate students, and occasionally undergraduates.
