LFM TEACHER GINNY DEXTER FEATURED IN THURSDAY'S LEARNING
TECHNOLOGIES CHANNEL SHOW
This Thursday, December 11 "Sharing NASA 101" will deliver a presentation on publishing student work online. This week's show, from 4-5 p.m., PST, features Linda Conrad, Quest Project team member and teacher Ginny Dexter discussing this online learning and teaching tool. EXPLORING MARS EDUCATION PROGRAM SET FOR DECEMBER 18
A one-hour program called "Exploring Mars Education" is planned for December 18 from 3-4 p.m. PST. The show will feature Don Scott from NASA Ames Research Center. Don is an expert in Mars and Mars education. As a NASA "spacemobiler" he spends his time traveling (physically, not virtually) to different schools, doing teacher workshops and student assemblies. In the December 18 program, Don will discuss some issues involved in getting to Mars and the work to be done once there. As well, several hands-on, classroom-tested Mars lessons will be demonstrated. We hope that the cyber-audience will actually be doing a few of these lessons hands-on themselves, so preprogram gathering of simple materials is expected. Remote participation will be encouraged, so teachers can ask questions or share thoughts from afar, joining in, rather then just watching. This event will be carried on the Learning Technologies Channel (LTC), which includes Internet audio, video, Web and chat. You may have to preinstall free software to properly receive the audio and video information. Please consider joining us for this experiment in remote learning. Details about the event will be available shortly at the LTC schedule page: http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/ltc/schedule.html

LIVE FROM MARS TO TRANSITION TO NEW PROJECT IN EARLY '98
You may not be aware that the Live From Mars project is only scheduled to run through December 1997. But fear not, this online connection to enthusiastic Mars experts will not go away. The team at Quest is committed to continuing with the full slate of online features, including new biographies, field journals, chats, email Q&A, student Web publishing, etc. The project will change names to reflect the end of Passport to Knowledge's involvement. You'll begin to see a transition to this new name in January. This may be a good time to familiarize yourself with some other offerings on Quest. To make it easy and fun, the Quest team has put together a tour of the site. Though some features may be familiar, it is hoped that the tour will help you discover content on Quest that is new to you. For the tour, please visit: http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/common/gii.html
