"The Disaster of Hurricane Floyd"

In September 1999 hurricane Floyd hit us. Hurricane Floyd was a category 4 hurricane. We had school that day, but the rain was very heavy so my mom drove me to school. When we drove past my bus stop only about three people were there. We got out of school early that day because it was so bad.

When I got on the school bus the seats and the floor were wet from the kids on the bus earlier that day. So I was very wet by the time I got home. My hair was so wet that if you just walked in my house you would have thought that I had just gotten out of the shower. The bottoms of my pants were soaking wet.

Later that night I went to my friend's house. When I was walking there the winds were almost pushing me against a fence. We couldn't go into her basement because it was wet.

When I went to bed that night I could hear the winds making the tree's shake. I also heard the trees outside hitting my house and the rain outside, too. Then I realized that I didn't have anything to worry about and that I was safe inside.
