Here are star census data collected at The Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Kamuela, Hawaii on the Big Island of Hawaii. The data was collected at 10:00 PM HST on a clear, moonless night from the soccer field on campus. Light from nearby classroom buildings may have hindered the seeing. The campus is at an elevation of 600 meters above sea level. There was a light breeze and the temperature was about 16 degrees Centigrade. Two groups of students collected data:

Group 1:
                        1/4 1/2 3/4

North 7 10 23
West 14 12 30
South 5 14 16
East 8 11 9

Total Sample = 122
Total Average Stars = 122 x 12 = 1464

Group 2:
                        1/4 1/2 3/4

North 7 12 9
West 9 4 7
South 7 12 13
East 18 14 10

Total Sample = 159
Total Average Stars = 159 x 12 = 1908
We will be repeating this experiment soon and will prepare a report from our findings.

Sincerely,
