QUESTION: Can there be life on comets? ANSWER from Max Bernstein on May 13: As for life on a comet, I don't think that any scientist takes that too seriously because it is way too cold out there. BUT there is a way it COULD happen (maybe). What if the comet were so large that it was the size of a small planet. Then the inside would heat up just as the center of the earth is hot. In this case then the ice would melt and life could (I doubt it) form inside the comet, although the outside is at least a hundred degrees below freezing.
