Dear juniorstanley and other teachers,
I am so glad you asked about math relating to aerodynamics. I am project
manager of a new project called Aero Design Team Online.
http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/aero This project focuses on the people who are
doing aerodynamics research and design here at Ames Research Center.

We have biographies of many people who use math in their jobs like flight
simulation engineers and computational fluid dynamics experts. Two ways
your students could benefit from this project are the opportunity to ask
email questions of these experts and receive email replys to their
questions http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/aero/question/
and the opportunity to participate in a webchat with an expert.

In fact on Tuesday, December 2 at 10:00 am PST we will be having a chat
with Estela Hernandez, a Flight Simulation Engineer at the Vertical Motion
Simulator, in her recent journal Estella wrote about using differential
equations and matrices to write a new math model of an altimeter for the
space shuttle simulation. The astronauts will try her model out in
February. Estela is an excellent role model for Hispanic students, she was
born in Mexico and first went to Junior college, then on to Cal. Poly.

I am hoping to add additional math resources to the teachers resource area
as well.
I hope you and your students will join us!
