>>>>>WEATHER WATCHERS UPDATE
Classes around the country are busily collecting weather data (with
instruments determined via Phase 1 of this online collaborative activity).
Students are beginning their second week of collecting real-time data (air
temp, air pressure, wind direction, precip) in their own backyards or using
resources like local weather forecasts or web weather reporting resources
for their region.

Data will be posted online via the LFM Weather Watcher's web pages and
shared by all for follow-up interpretive activities. A Weather Data
input form found at http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/mars/events/ww2daily.html
is available for daily submissions of weather data.

Complete info on Weather Worlds is found online at:

>>>>>WEB CHAT THIS WEEK: David Mittman, Tuesday, November 18, 1997,
	10:30-11:30 a.m. Pacific Standard Time

David Mittman has worn three hats during the Pathfinder mission: flight
engineer,
mission planner and flight controller. David will bring us up to date on the
operations of the lander and rover, what the commands to Pathfinder consist of
(specific tasks such as "Call Home!"), and the Deep Space Network's role now
that Pathfinder isn't communicating.

Please be sure to read David's biography and journals BEFORE the chat so that
intelligent questions can be asked!

	See: http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/mars/team/mittman.html

>>>>>MARS TEAM ANSWERS *YOUR* QUESTIONS through DECEMBER, '98...
The opportunity to send email questions to the men and women of the Mars
team is available now through December 1997. Be sure to check out the
online information and guidelines found at:

http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/mars/ask/question.html *BEFORE* submitting
questions!

>>>>>FOLLOW-UP ON LAST WEEK'S DISCUSS-LFM TOPICS...
Rhonda T. asked about web chat registration problems... this question
has been forwarded to Sandy Dueck at sandy@quest.arc.nasa.gov who
coordinates the LFM web chats. Sandy will let us all know the answer
to web chat registration logistics and what to do if the online
form doesn't succeed.

Did anyone accept Ginny D.'s offer to do some CUSeeMe videoconferencing
this week? Ginny, please share a follow-up report or info
on how this has been valuable to your students. Discuss-lfm is
a great place to find LFM related collaborative activity partners.

A question was asked about submitting images from Weather Worlds
activities. I have asked Linda Conrad or Sandy Dueck to give us
a response to this question. Please watch the list this week
for an answer!

Thanks to Eileen B. and Sheri K. for responding to Rick's call for
the URL for the Idaho Tech Challenge site.

A reminder... if you ever need to access an archive of PAST discuss-lfm
postings remember that you can see all the interactions via the Hypertext
