Fellow LFM teachers and students,

First, thanks to all who explored the Mission to Mars web site and provided
feedback back in September. If you missed my announcement back then, here's
a brief description: It's a website entitled MISSION TO MARS. At this
site, the user can learn about Mars and space exploration, and then design
their own space probe mission to search for life on Mars! This website was
developed by 3 high school students who were supervised by educators for
the ThinkQuest internet contest.

We've recently learned that the site has been chosen as a finalist in the
ThinkQuest contest, and the feedback we've received from teachers and
students has been quite rewarding. Here's what a teacher in Hawaii had to
say:

She had each student design their own mission: "I wanted each student to
have what I thought (and found to be true!) would be a good experience in
science and critical thinking!" After the students finished their missions
and completed their press releases, she said: "They really feel a part of
this site." "I will be showing your site, including our PR [press
releases], to the administrators so they can see what an ACTIVE learning
environment the Web can be."

If YOU haven't had a chance to check out the site, here's the URL--have fun:

Let me know if you have any questions. -GH
