>>>ALERT: LIVE FROM MARS #5: "TODAY ON MARS..."
November 13, 1997, 1-2 p.m., Eastern
12 DAYS UNTIL >final< LFM *LIVE* PROGRAM AIRS...
Live weather data and imagery from Mars show what has been
learned to date from the Pathfinder lander and rover: how
the continuing data stream provides students with material
to analyze in math and computer classes. What Sojourner has
revealed, to date, about the actual composition of Martian
rocks, and what this implies for the question of liquid
water and the possibility of life. A preview of the next
decade of exploration.
SEE: http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/mars/teachers/tg/program5/index.html
for complete program description!

satellite coordinate information (Seeing the Broadcast
section)
ALERT>>>ACTIVITY 5.1
SEE: http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/mars/teachers/tg/program5/5.1.html
for hands-on activity "Today's Weather on Mars" correlating to
Program 5!
Objective:
Students will research temperature and wind data locally,
nationally and internationally and compare these to
conditions on Mars, and draw conclusions about differences
and causes.
ALERT>>>ACTIVITY 5.2
SEE: http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/mars/teachers/tg/program5/5.2.html
for hands-on activity "Sun, Shadows, Surface Structure... and the
Face on Mars" activity correlating to Program 5.
Objectives:
* Students will use light and shadow information to make
inferences regarding the three dimensional shapes of specific
objects photographed on the surface of Mars.
* Students will explain the limitation of some data in reaching
definitive conclusions about the shape of the specified objects.
* Students will explain what further data would be needed to
more precisely describe the three dimensional shape of the objects.

Helpful hints:
* Check the archive of Q and A's BEFORE submitting
your question! You may find the answer to
your question >already< available online!
* Submit questions to: question-lfm@quest.arc.nasa.gov
* A capability has been set up for those people that would
like to receive ongoing email with answers to all of
the questions asked. Each night, one mail message will
be sent to those interested. This message will contain a
copy of every question/answer pair generated that day.
If you would like to receive these message, please send
an email to: listmanager@quest.arc.nasa.gov
In the message body, write these words: subscribe answers-lfm
NEW>>>PATHFINDER CONCENTRATE - TESTS YOUR MARS-MEMORY!
SEE:http://ptkmars.ivv.nasa.gov/concentrate/concentration.html
You must have a browser that supports Java to play Concentrate!
Directions:
A tile is flipped by clicking on the Mars rover image. Begin play
by flipping two tiles, one at a time. If the tiles match, they

Repeat this process until all twelve pairs of matching tiles have
been removed.
