Copywrite laws

In my scramble to get things ready for 9/3, the fastest way I found to
present the different designs of instruments was to photograph them from
books with a digital camera and then show them on a TV.  When we submit our
plan, would we be violating copywrite laws if we sent in those pictures,
along with the reference citation?
