Dear discuss-lfm members,

Discuss-lfm is a forum for discussion regarding the implementation
of the Live From Mars project, and therefore NOT open for anyone
to post inappropriate/irrelevant information. Therefore we,
LFM, always want posts like the one below to be *submitted for
approval!* Thanks to MGM's contact for following this
protocol!

Since we've seen great journals and writing come from PTK's
"cutting-edge science" activities and since Live From Mars
does promote integration >>>across the curriculum<<<
and because we've been gratified to see many teachers & students receive
awards, grants, etc. as a direct or indirect result of participating
in PTK, we are delighted to think there'll be some strong entries for
the Outer Limits Writing Scholarship.

PTK would love to let you know about any and all ways to acquire
funds. Stay tuned for a posting about THINKQUEST which offers
about $1,000,000 in prizes.

THE OUTER LIMITS WRITING SCHOLARSHIP

FIRST PRIZE: $5,000 TWO SECOND PRIZES: $2,500
PRESENTED BY MGM WORLDWIDE TELEVISION GROUP AND
TRILOGY ENTERTAINMENT
www.theouterlimits.com

The Outer Limits is a Sci Fi anthology series that blends fact and fiction to
explore the consequences of humankind's actions in the 20th century and
beyond. Each week the show teaches us that things are not exactly as they
appear.

Select ONE of the following quotes and illustrate its meaning, through your
own original fiction or non-fiction story. Include the quote in your essay.

*Before we allow ourselves to be consumed by our regrets, we should remember
the mistakes we make in life are not so important as the lessons we draw from
them.* (LAST SUPPER)

*For centuries philosophers and theologians have debated what it means to be
human.
Perhaps the answer has eluded us because it is so simple. To be human is to
choose.* (A FEASIBILITY STUDY)

*The more we learn about the universe around us, the more we realize how little
we truly know. But we will only find what wonders await us if no false walls
are built around our explorers and no false restraints applied to the \
unquenchable human thirst to know it all.* (DOUBLE HELIX)
