Subject: science in the elementary classroom

I am a prospective elementary education major at Western Washington University. I am currently enrolled in a Science education class. I have been told that very little time is devoted to Science in the elementary classroom. I am curious to know just how much time elementary teachers spend on Science in their classroom. If you are an elementary teacher, I would like your input. How much time do you personally spend on Science in your classroom. How important do you feel it is for grades K-8. Also, if you do incorporate Science in your classroom, do you use textbooks, internet, what? Thanks for your time. I would really appreciate your knowledge on the subject. Thanks Renee Burton
