Dear Ken, and all, It deeply saddens me to hear of Gene Shoemaker's death. Last winter I saw a documentary on him. At the time, I remember being so touched to hear that he had not been able to realize his dream of being an astronaut due to some minor physical problem, don't recall what it was. It was a great documentary, and I hope that they will replay it now so everyone can see it. I had not been aware of all of his scientific accomplishments till I saw that documentary. If we had to lose him, how fine that he was able to enjoy acclaim for his discovery of his magnificent string of pearls. Thank you for letting us all know.
