Just wanted to share with you all that I got a real treat yesterday.
Donna Shirley was in Boise, Idaho - just down the road from me and she gave a wonderful presentation at M K Center. It was a wonderful presentation. I took my two boys, who I am happ
y to say, were as fascintated as I was by the presentation. She was in town to be the keynot speaker for a group of women that are having a cross country air race from Boise to Kentucky. The speech itself was sponsored by The Discover Center, our local
hands on science museum. Ms. Shirley spoke not only about the great landing on July 4 but filled us in on the future JPL projects coming over the next ten years. She captivated
her audience with humor and science. I was pleased to see to see parents
there with their teen age children. It is wonderful to know that those same children (as she pointed out) might be the same people that first walk on Mars in about 20 or so years. She spent about 1/2 hour answer questions. It was great. This was Ms.
Shirley's last public apperance before the Mars landing. My husband and I are celebrating our 25th wedding aniversery on July 1st. We are of
course looking forward with great happiness to that event and also to
the special celebration on July 4th wit
h the landing. Does any know if the landing will be on commercial t.v. as well as over the satellite. Have a great 4th everyone.
