PASSPORT TO KNOWLEDGE: LIVE FROM MARS
IMPORTANT JULY PROGRAMMING BROADCAST INFORMATION 


The following information details the various satellite coordinates for the
July 6th and July 9th, 1997 Live From Mars two hour programs originating
from NASA JPL-Pasadena,CA, the American Museum of Natural History-New York, 
and museum and science centers around the country...


Additionally featured on Sunday, July 6th...

 Denver Museum of Natural History 
 Center Of Science & Industry (COSI) - Columbus, Ohio
 The Planetary Society's Planetfest Convention - Pasadena,CA
	
Additionally featured on Wednesday, July 9th...

 Maryland Science Center - Baltimore, MD
 NASA's Classroom of the Future (COTF) - Wheeling,WV
 Houston Museum of Natural Science
		

Please keep in mind the following IMPORTANT points:

1) NASA-TV TRANSMISSION NOTE

NASA-TV [GE-2, Transponder 9C] does plan to carry the program
but, as always, transmissions can be pre-empted by Space Shuttle
Missions (one is due to launch on July 1st or 4th), Mission updates,
and other factors.

A backup plan is in place utilizing the SAME NASA-TV satellite.
GE-2, with a different Transponder (Channel) -- Transponder
21. *BOTH* GE-2 transponders are presently scheduled to transmit 
the programs.   (see coordinates below)


2) PBS TRANSMISSION NOTE

Both programs will also be carried by PBS's main satellite, Telstar
402R.  However, please note that re-transmission by your local PBS
station is at their discretion and on their own locally determined
schedule.  "Check your local listings" in advance to ensure
you are not disappointed!

The Sunday, July 6th, broadcast will be LIVE at 14:00-16:00 EST on 
Telstar 402R.  The Wednesday, July 9th, PBS transmission WILL BE
broadcast via TAPE DELAY on Thursday, JULY 10th at 11:00-13:00 EASTERN 
STANDARD TIME via Telstar 402R.

  vertical polarity, frequency of 4120 MHz, and Audio 6.2 & 6.8


* NASA-TV:  GE-2, Transponder 9C at 85 degrees West longitude, 
  vertical polarity, with a frequency of 3880 MHz,   
        and Audio 6.8 MHz. 

* PBS:  Telstar 402 R, 7 Lower, 89 degrees West, Frequency
        11895 Vertical, 6.2 & 6.8 Audio. 



WEDNESDAY, JULY 9TH, 1997,  14:00-16:00 EST
