Dear Mars Educators, As most of your school years are winding down, I just wanted to let you know that I have really enjoyed sharing with you via Discuss-LFM this year. I am so excited about all of the work you and your kids are doing, all across the US and beyond. I am going to stay on this listserv and continue to share, right on through the Summer and into the new school year. Great and exciting things are still to come. I get all teary-eyed when I think about how *awesome* it will be on July 4th, to see that first picture come back. For me, personally, it has been a monumental journey to get from being that 5th/6th grade kid who fell in love with the Viking pictures in 1976... to where I am today. I have people like you to thank for it, too! I also want to make sure you all know about and take a look at the May 1997 issue of NSTA's SCIENCE AND CHILDREN. The cover story, "Intergalactic Voyage," is written by my good friend, kindergarten teacher Peggy Wethered of Nampa, Idaho. I am very proud of her and this article. (and tickled that she referenced our RED PLANET CONNECTION in the article!). Well-- enough gushing... I have some research proposals to write (yes, about Mars science).
