Dear discuss-lfm members,

Two items in this month's Science Scope (NSTA's journal for middle
level science educators) caught my eye...

One is a real source of shared pride: Page 4 lists the NSTA Award
Winners and Marilyn Kennedy Wall, Passport to Knowledge Advocate
from Bridgewater, Virginia is listed as the *Grand Prize Winner*
in the Philips Media Science Teaching Award.

        Congratulations to Marilyn!

The other item is the Water Rockets and Indirect Measurement lesson
plan by Duane Inman (Associate Professor of Education, Univeristy
of Louisiana). The lesson makes use of inexpensive toy water
rockets and is great for teaching Newton's third law of motion,
controlling/changing variables, and the inquiry.
