Dear Mars Educators,

I want to bring to your attention a really great book about the future
of Human exploration and colonization of Mars. If, for example, your
class is engaged in "Mars City Alpha," "Marsville," or any other
project to examine and/or simulate human colonization of Mars, then
this book would be an excellent resource.

It is called STRATEGIES FOR MARS: A GUIDE TO HUMAN EXOPLORATION. It is
edited by Carol R. Stoker and Carter Emmart. You might recognize Carol's
name-- she was on several of the recent tv productions about Mars
exploration, such as the on that was on Discover channel. Carter is
a world-class space artist who specializes in showing "real" human beings
doing "real" human activities on the Red Planet.

The book is new- just published in 1996. You can get a softcover edition
from The Plantary Society's catalog for $34-- it is item #160 (call
818-793-1675, or see their web site at http://planetary.org/tps/).

This is not an endorsement. I just want to tell you about it.
I highly reccommend this book. The contents are listed below.
