I happened to be taping the evening news and there was a short clip on CBS
Nightly News  about possible life from Mars  surviving the trip to Earth.
This was followed by a great segment on Hale Bopp. I shared these two
segments with my students.They also enjoyed seeing the scenes of amateur
astronomers using telescopes.
