Dear Sue, That's how my program was, too. We had three weeks 8 hrs per day
intro, then into the classroom--four weeks as observers, four weeks as helpers
then teaching the rest of the year. It was high school and we taught 2
periods and observed other teachers at the school 2 periods and took 2 classes
from the university after school. I can't imagine why a school would
sequester their prospective students away in the ivory towers of the college
and then call them teachers! On the job training is the way to go for any
profession. I've had some babysitters myself, but it hasn't been the newbies,
they're usually go getters. The worst ones are the ones who are trying to sub
on top of another job and are literally just there for the bucks. jkc
