Laura and other PTK'ers,
Your reference to the fact that many college teacher training
programs are presently very deficient in technology training is very true.
In my opinion - just as our K-12 schools are filled with many veteran
teachers who are reluctant to venture into the new technologies, so our
universities also are plagued with this dilemma. I am finding that those of
us involved in tech based projects like PTK are unfortunately very much in
the minority. I believe higher education has recognized this weakness and
is beginning to take steps to correct it. My own alma mater, Eastern
Illinois University, is currently working with NCSA in a project to focus
on tech training for student teachers.
We are all involved in a transition period and I believe the future
of tech integration into curriculum looks very bright. For now, I guess
we'll all just need to be patient.
Happy to contribute,
Tim :)
