Subject: agenda for Pioneer10 VConference
Date: Thu, 13 Feb 1997 20:18:31 -0800 (PST)
Hello, I was so impressed by the powerful list of speakers that I felt compelled to send this agenda to the upcoming March 3 Virtual Conference for Pioneer 10. See http://quest.arc.nasa.gov/pioneer10 for details. Also, I just wanted to let ya'll know more about my NASA adventure. Last time I had just seen the shuttle lauch. This morning I spent an hour in mission control, watching the astronauts go bed-bed. And now as I type, the mission control building is about 40 yards away. In a bit, I think I'll wander over and gander the hubble repair spacewalks. Your tax dollars at work! Your network pal, Marc March 3 Virtual Conference (times Eastern) 9:40 - 9:45 Welcome - Frank Owens, Director Educational Programs, NASA 9:45 - 10:05 Pioneer 10 - Larry Lasher, Project Manager 10:05 - 10:25 Pioneer's Firsts - Richard Fimmel, Former Project Manager 10:25 - 10:55 INTERMISSION - Question and Answer for Remote Participants 10:55 - 11:15 Operating and Controlling Pioneer - Fred Wirth, Former Project Manager 11:15 - 11:35 Pioneer, Seque to the Future - Louis Friedman, Executive Director, The Planetary Society 11:35 - 12:00 Questions and Answers Pioneer Education Resources - Bob Hillenbrand 12:00 - 1:30 LUNCH BREAK 12:00 - 12:30 - Question and Answer for Remote Participants 12:30 - 1:30 - Re-run of First Lecture 1:30 - 1:35 Greetings - Larry Lasher, Project Manager 1:35 - 1:40 Welcome - Wes Huntress, NASA Associate Administrator, Space Sciences 1:40 - 1:45 Pioneer 10 Mission - Henry McDonald, Director, NASA Ames Research Center 1:45 - 2:05 First Mission to Open the Door to Jupiter and Beyond - James Van Allen, PN 10 Principal Investigator, University of Iowa 2:05 - 2:25 Outer Planets and Magnetospheres - Ed Smith, PN 10 Principal Investigator, Jet Propulsion Laboratory 2:25 - 3:00 INTERMISSION - Question and Answer for Remote Participants 3:00 - 3:20 The Heliosphere: Our Laboratory in Space - John Simpson, PN 10 Principal Investigator, University of Chicago 3:20 - 3:40 The Heliosphere: The Barrier to Interstellar Space - Frank McDonald, PN 10 Principal Investigator, University of Maryland 3:40 - 4:00 Future Exploration of Outer Space - Dave Morrison, Space Director, NASA Ames Research Center 4:00 - 4:20 Questions and Answers - Larry Lasher 4:20 - 4:30 Science Education Resources - Bob Hillenbrand, Project Educator
