Hi PTK'ers,

As has already been mentioned in discuss-lfm, the Feb 97 issue of
Science Scope has a cover story on Mars Exploratory Vehicles. The article
is great and suggests some neat ideas for class along with some book
references including Mars by Ben Bova. Here is where I offer a word of
warning.
This book reads like a Michener style novel and touches many of the
issues covered in the LFM initiative. The author presents a fascinating
scenario for many of the political, social and personal issues which will
likely impact an international manned exploration of Mars. Unfortunately,
some very strong adult themes and language are woven through an otherwise
captivating story. A great read for interested teachers....but keep it at
home. If this book winds up in the hands of a student, it will surely lead
to a visit from an angry parent, administrator or board member.

Happy to be of help,

Tim
