Hi, If you have the CD called THE RETURN TO MARS and are having problems linking out to the web, please take note of the following three facts- 1) This CD will automatically go out to the world wide web from links with in the CD. All you need to do is connect to the internet before you launch the CD. Of course you need enough memory to run both programs (the CD web browser and your internet connection program/s) The program (web browser/web client) the CD uses is called E-Mosaic by Spyglass. It is close enough to Netscape/Explorer/Mosaic that anyone with experience on the web should be able to navigate with it. This ability to link out to the internet (World Wide Web) for more information, from a CD is called bridging. It is great stuff because it gives you context sensitive material that would not fit on the CD and or is time sensitive, etc.. Hope you are still with me? 2) The CD called THE RETURN TO MARS and THE VIKING 20TH ANNIVERSARY EDUCATIONAL MULTIMEDIA CD have the same exact materials (and links to the internet) with the following differences: The 20TH ANNIVERSARY CD is only for Macs, but the RETURN TO MARS works with both the IBM/clones (wintel) computers and Macs. A CD that works with both computers is called a hybrid CD. This is great stuff because all major software producers can print one CD that will work on both computers. In fact many companies already do just this! Few people know? One last fact- 3) Windows computers end their web address with .htm and Macs end their web address as .html So, if you have a problem getting to somewhere on the internet from the hybrid CD , check the last part of the web address (a web address is called a URL=Uniform Resource Locator) If it just has .htm add the letter lowercase L (by clicking in the location window) so it looks like .html and try again (hit return) This might work. If you have any questions or comments go to the following address http://eggfoo.arc.nasa.gov/FAQ/feedback.html You can also get to the above address by clicking in the link at the bottom of the first page of the hybrid CD titled SEND US COMMENTS AND FEEDBACK I hope this helps Later Scott Coletti
