I have Distant Suns and have used it a few times. It is too advanced for 
middle school students who have little knowledge about astronomy. 
However, as an adult, you would find the software a lot of fun. There is 
an unlimited number of item compositions so that you can view 
constellations from any point on earth, track star positions, etc.  You 
can also look at views of the sky from points other than the Earth.
