Dear discuss-lfm and PTK Advocates, Good news... I am back online and my email is now rapidly flowing again... with many, many messages on the desktop, I hope to get back to those folks with urgent questions asap. In the meantime, I want to remind everyone about the Challenge Question as announced in the latest newsletter. Here is this week's question. By the way, I hear that Dave Grott's (Alden Place Elementary, Millbrook, NY) entire school is having a great time as they solve this puzzler: Challenge Question #1: Let's say you have just been appointed Baseball Commissioner for Mars. You would like the game to be similar in difficulty to the game as played on Earth. With that in mind, how far back should you place the center field fence (so that it is just as hard to hit a home run). Assume that a center field fence on Earth is 410 feet from home plate. You are invited to send your answers, which will be collated and posted on our Live From Mars web site. We will be awarding token prizes and recognizing the best answers/explanations. Please send your answers to me at jwee@mail.arc.nasa.gov Be sure to indicate the name of the class or team, the name of the school/learning center and location and your complete answer/explanation. A new Challenge Question will be posted weekly! Also, we hope that you have had a chance to visit the Special Events area on the LFM Web Site where you will find more details about the Planet Explorer Toolkit activity. The 13 Step Procedure is found online now and we encourage you to think about being a participating classroom, homeschool, learning center.
