QUESTION: I noticed that many of the rocks are your basic cement block shapes. Considering that the bases of these rocks are surrounded by mostly topsoil so to speak, it doesn't appear to simply be a matter of a piece of natural groundbreak that just happens to be lying there. There are some almost perfectly square bricks lying around. How did these end up getting where they are now? It's almost as if it was ripped from another part of the planet and thrown there by a storm - is this the case? ANSWER from Ted Roush on July 11, 1997: These blocks are likely rocks that have been transported to their current location. The transport process may have been: 1) water, this area is believed to be represent an outwash channel; or 2) impact crater ejecta, there is an impact crater about a kilometer away. We don't know exactly when they were emplaced in their current location, but it is obvious from the images that the soils were emplaced after the rocks by perhaps sedimentation (water) or aeolian (wind) proceses.
