They said that the rover will freeze up during the Martian winter. Will the
rover be able to thaw during the summer and work again?

Many of the components on both the rover and lander may break if they go
below certain temperatures. During the martian winter, we would expect the
the rover and/or lander to stop functioning because of the cold temperatures
in the environment and because they won't have the solar power to keep
themselves warm.
