QUESTION: 
Is it possible that Mars and Earth could have changed orbits years ago?

ANSWER from Cathy Davis on December 27, 1996:
This is not very likely. To change orbits would have required a 
tremendous amount of energy. Such energy would not have left the 
planets in such nice near-circular orbits.
