QUESTION: Why don't we examine planets by sending clones of people to them? ANSWER from Steve Wall on July 30, 1997: We don't yet know how to clone people, or even whether or not it would be a good idea to try. So my answer depends on how and if we would do that. If people's clones are just like the original people, we would certainly want to take every bit as good care of them as their originals. So I would think sending them instead of "real" humans wouldn't be fair to them.
