QUESTION: For Charles Whetsel: I would like to know why you picked your job that you did instead of another job? ANSWER from Charles Whetsel on November 20, 1996: When I first went to college, I knew I wanted to do engineering work for a living because I liked to solve problems, and I liked working with math and science. I thought that aerospace engineering would be exciting, and it turns out that I was right! College was a lot of hard work, and I wasn't sure whether or not I would end up getting a job with NASA, but I did. I enjoy my job, although living here in Los Angeles is a lot different than where I grew up in Tennessee! Sincerely, Charles Whetsel Mars Surveyor Flight Operations
