QUESTION: Were there any design corrections made to the Sojourner? If so, what were they and how did you fix them? ANSWER from Cathy Davis on February 8, 1997: All spacecraft undergo some thorough testing in the middle of their development cycle so that we have a chance to make adjustments. Sojourner has a twin sister named Marie Curie. Marie was thoroughly tested first and then design corrections were implemented and retested. Then the corrections were transferred to Sojourner. We are still running software tests now with Marie Curie. We can upload new software to the Rover when we wake it up in June.
