QUESTION: Have you guys talked to the Internet authorities about establishing the top level domain names for the planets? It would seem that the time has come. The photos you've been showing should have an originating address of something like lander@saganstation.jpl.nasa.gov.mars or some such, shouldn't they? I'm only partly in jest. ANSWER from Marc Siegel on July 15, 1997: I don't think anybody in NASA is pursuing the issue you discuss. While it is true that the images are from Mars, they are put online here on Earth by NASA. We've got a clear place on the Internet (nasa.gov) and adding new domain names willy-nilly would confuse lots of the very people we are trying to serve. I can hear them saying, "Hmm, now is that neat new image on a nasa.gov or nasa.gov.mars or nasa.gov.phobos". Although your idea is fun to think about, I doubt anybody here will put any effort into making it happen. Yours, Marc
