QUESTION: For Mike Malin: About how much time do you work with the cameras? ANSWER from Mike Malin on November 28, 1996: Most of my work right now doesn't actually involve working with the cameras, although I do get to do some of that. The Mars Global Surveyor camera is on its way to Mars right now, and we've only gotten to "play" with it once so far (we tried to take a picture of the Earth but missed). We will get to turn it on and take some pictures next week (we're going to try to photograph Earth again), and then again in January (we'll try to take some star pictures). But normally, the camera is off. We haven't built the Mars Surveyor 1998 cameras yet (we've just started ordering the computer chips and lenses). Thanksfor writing. Mike Malin Principal Investigator
