QUESTION: Please explain what kind of training is required to do you job as one of the NASA ACTS satellite communications team members. Laura J., West Salem Middle School West Salem, WI ANSWER from Annie Devereaux, NASA ACTS Satellite Team Member Palmer Station, Antarctica Fri, 14 Feb 1997 13:10:58 -0300 Dear Laura, The basic requirement to be a engineer for NASA and JPL is a bachelor's degree, but there are no rigid rules about what discipline your degree has to be in. If you are interested in satellite engineering, you might get a degree in electrical engineering, math, physics, or in my case, computer engineering. Though you learn a lot on the job, many people go back to school and get a specialized Master's degree, where you would take classes in such things as antennas, frequency manipulation, and bit coding. Thanks for your question! Annie
