QUESTION: Do you like living there? (Antarctica) Third Graders from Burch Elementary School Susan Mills, Enrichment Teacher Ellen Morton, Media Specialist Tyrone, Georgia 30290 ANSWER from Annie Devereaux, NASA ACTS Satellite Team Member Palmer Station, Antarctica Fri, 14 Feb 1997 13:10:58 -0300 Dear Third Graders and Ms. Mills and Ms. Morton, Living at Palmer Station is simultaneously very familiar yet completely different from anything I'd experienced. The familiarity comes because in many ways living at Palmer is like living at college. You live in a dormitory, eat meals in a dining hall, and then go to work right in the same complex, along with all your fellow station-mates. The difference comes in the spectacular scenery and isolation from normal activities you would have back home. It is a fantastic experience, like no other place on earth. Thanks for your question!
