QUESTION:  
Has anyone put a tracking device on juvenile penguins to track where they
go before they are of breeding age and return to the rookery?

Dear Fourth Graders and Ms. Heisler,

That is a very good question.  However, to my knowledge, only 
adults have been fixed with tracking devices.  Your idea, indeed, is 
very good, though.  Doing what you have suggested might shed a lot of 
light into the behavior of the juveniles before they return to breed. 
The present information concerning juveniles has probably come 
from banding birds and merely encountering these banded birds again 
at a later date.
