QUESTION: Did the scientists have to study about penguins before they got to go to Antarctica? Catie, Fourth graders at Peter Boscow in Hillsboro, Oregon ANSWER from David Lott, Research Assistant, Palmer Station, Antarctica Fri, 14 Feb 1997 14:59:59 -0500 Actually Catie, no they really didn't. I study other animals back in the states. When I first learned that I was coming down here, I read about the type of work that I would be doing. However, as with most projects, the true learning comes from the actual experience. I don't think that I could have read and learned nearly as much as the first few days that I was down here. Thanks for your question! David
