QUESTION: What are your true goals for going to Antarctica? Dieter K., Fifth grader, Ms. Landmann's Class Rio del Mar School, Aptos, CA ANSWER from Mary Lenox, ASA, Administrative Coordinator Palmer Station, Antarctica Wed, 19 Feb 1997 16:57:08 -0500 Hi, Dieter! What a question! :) My goals for coming to Antarctica were to leave a 10-year career in real estate sales and experience living at an isolated research station while working in support of science. I also wanted time to think about what I wanted to do next, go to graduate school or on to some other career. I still haven't figured that out! I think most people who come to Antarctica to work are either working on a graduate degrees, doing research as part of their commitment to their profession, or just to experience this unique environment while they work in support of the science. Cheers, Mary Lenox
