QUESTION:
Are there opportunities for those in the military to serve
in Antarctica that you are aware of?  One thing I did not find 
was opportunities in Antarctica for military personnel. 
Many of my students are interested in this area.

Hello, Marion.

There used to be many opportunities with the Navy, but I believe most 
of their responsibilities have been turned over to the Antarctic 
Support Associates, the support contractor.  ASA is located in 
Englewood, Colorado, and hires many people for a wide range of jobs 
that are necessary for the stations to run smoothly on the ice.

The US Coast Guard still provides ice breaking services on an annual 
basis, but I do believe that is the extent of it.  

Contacting the various armed forces would be the best way to research 
options further.  Good luck!
