Most Arctic researchers have been trained as biologists, physisists,
geologists, chemists, or oceanographers before getting into Arctic research.
I suggest to students wanting to become Arctic researchers, that they get a
good fundamental science background and learn how to apply that knowledge to
processes that occur in cold climates. Arctic research is very exciting,
especially now that we know that the Arctic is warming and the environment
must respond in new and different ways. There will plenty to do when you get
ready to start your research career! Welcome aboard.
