The fact is that we know very little about the winter ecology of most of the animals. What we know is that most animals can be classified as ice- tolerant and ice intolerant, meaning some winter in association with the ice and others prefer to be in open water. But where they go exactly remains a mystery at the moment for most of the species in the area. Bill
