QUESTION: What is the warmest and coldest day it has been in Antarctica while this project has been going on and what were the dates? Branda P. Mrs. Garvin's Class Mauldin Elementary Mauldin, SC ANSWER from Mary Lenox, ASA, Administrative Coordinator Palmer Station, Antarctica Fri, 21 Mar 1997 14:01:12 -0500 Hi, Branda. We have four people who are trained to observe and report the weather. Three times a day the weather is passed to Rothera, a British station about 200 miles from Palmer, via radio. The weather is summarized on a month basis and reported to various interested parties. The Life From Antarctica-2 crew arrived in early January of 1997 and left in mid-February. The coldest temperature recorded at Palmer Station during that time was -2.1C, which is roughly +28F. The warmest temperature recorded during that same time was +8.0C which is approximately +46.4F. It was quite warm while the camera guys, producer, and satellite people where here. Lucky for them! Thanks you for your question. Cheers, Mary Lenox
