QUESTION: How can you tell direction in Antarctica? Jason N. 3rd grade 9 years old ANSWER from Mary Lenox, Antartic Support Associates Palmer Station, Antarctica Tue, 15 Apr 1997 11:51:58 -0500 Hello, Jason. When I first got to Palmer Station, I had a hard time figuring out which way each direction was. The sun was setting in one direction, but I was told west was a slightly different direction. It was confusing! Then I studied the maps of the area to get my bearings. Now I know which way west is even if the sun is setting to the southwest. Maps, landmarks, and compasses all help us to get our bearings. I hope I answered your question. Cheers, Mary Lenox
