QUESTION: Why did you choose to study penguins? Elizabeth R., Mr. Lewis' 3rd grade class Burnley Moran School in Charlottesville, Va. ANSWER from John Carlson, Research Assistant, Dr. Fraser's Team Palmer Station, Antarctica Sat, 15 Feb 1997 09:35:03 -0500 Dear Elizabeth, I chose to study penguins because I have been interested in birds ever since I was a little kid. I also have had a strong desire to see birds in other parts of the world, and Antarctica was definitly another part of the world from Montana, where I grew up. These birds also live in a very intersting ecosystem and they provide an excellent subject for the research I am doing. Thanks for your question!
